How to Snake a Toilet
From time to time your toilet may become clogged and no matter how much you use a plunger you cannot get the toilet unclogged. The next step is to use a toilet snake so you will need to know how to snake a toilet. A toilet snake is a long wire which spins inside the drain line of the toilet; it breaks up the clog as well as pushes it down the drain line. The toilet snake is good for about 6 feet. For clogs that are further down the line a motorized snake will be needed and most likely used at a clean-out access in the pipe.

How to use an electric powered toilet snake. You should not try and use this tool going through the toilet but only through a clean-out in the drain line (a clean-out is a cap or plug along the drain line which can be removed to access the pipe). You should open the clean-out above the clog if possible.
If you use an electric power snake in the toilet bowl you will leave metal marks and scratches on the porcelain bowls which are nearly impossible to remove.
